— Dramatic coloratura soprano
The Femme Fatale of Opera
Operasinger and performer based in Copenhagen, Denmark
My voice type is lyrical coloratura soprano with both the very high notes and a good depth. I love to convey emotions through song and performance and give the audience an intense and present experience. The opera has a unique ability to amplify, prolong and refine people’s deepest feelings, and the mix between the music and the audience is for me a magical moment. This is why I chose opera and opera chose me.

Selected reviews
Helene Hvass Hansen as the seductive doll in slitted black dress and with the soprano-voice on sparkling trips in Menotti’s ‘Steel Me, Sweet Thief’ from ‘The Old Maid and the Thief’ or in Thomas Adé’s ‘Life Story’.
A Musette soprano with a good measure of audacity: Helene Hvass
As her Lieder are so heavily and heavenly Italianate, having them sung by classically trained, coloratura opera singer Helene Hvass is a real bonus. Hansen’s singing is spot on and adds a vibrant colour to these intriguing songs.
The soprano Helene Hvass Hansen stands like a powerwoman in a black sequined dress with beautiful legs and sings out her feelings of loneliness – undisguisedly honest and effortlessly desperate right from the first note of Gershwin’s Summertime.
With physical presence and empathy, especially the soprano Helene Hvass Hansen reached beyond the edge of the stage with her stories.
Helene Hvass brings a special magic to these charming and varied songs. Her soprano is rich in tone, without being overpowering.
Musetta, in the form of Helene Hvass, is a sultry and sensual Elizabeth Taylor type. Woman to the tips of her fingers and not for a second doubting her own worth (…) vocally strong and she sings with great energy and warmth.”

Development of new shows and concepts
Alongside my career as a singer, I develop new music- and cultural projects from time to time together with collaborators from Denmark and abroad. It gives balance in my everyday life to train my entrepreneurial side and my creative and organizational skills – at the same time it feels meaningful to contribute to the creation of new works and concepts that create joy and value for the audience. You can read more about some of my projects and concepts here.
Original works
Songs by Denmark´s first woman composer
The release contains the collected works of Ida Henrietta d’Fonseca, and was recorded in collaboration with pianist Cathrine Penderup and released on Dacapo. Music researcher Lisbeth Ahlgren Jensen writes: “The songs bear the stamp of Italian bravura melody, German song sensitivity and Nordic folk song tone, and the mixed stylistic features and the great technical demands that the singer is faced with helped to give her songs such a special touch that they do not resemble anything else.”
